Below is the story of a new church plant emerging through the missionary training in NYC. We're excited to be a partner in developing mission leaders for our urban world. (First published on the NYCIP blog).

JP, a storekeeper in Queens had been praying for some time. Ten years ago, he came to faith in his native Nepal and since moving to New York City, he felt like God had given him a dream—to establish a Nepali church in his community. How would he do this? Who would help him? He had no answer to these questions, so he continued in prayer.
A month ago, two participants in NYC Equip walked into his shop, looking to learn more about the neighborhood. JP was excited to hear that they were interested in Nepal and, through the course of the conversation, he found out that they were Christians! Would these be the people who would help him with the church? Was it time for him to pick up the dream God had put on his heart?
Three Sundays ago, JP was able to gather around 15 of his Nepali friends and neighbors to hear the Gospel. Some of them had never heard about Jesus and His work on the cross. This group sang songs in Hindi and their native Nepali and enjoyed a meal together. Several people made a decision to follow Jesus and more were interested in learning about the Bible.
Praise God that He answers the prayers of his people! Equippers involved in this budding ministry to the Nepalese people will continue to work with JP, disciple new believers, and start a Discovery Bible Study that will introduce Jesus. Keep us in prayer!!!
